Theme films for conversation with expectant and new parents
Stine Sofie Foreldrepakke contains three theme films – one for pregnancy, one for the stay in hospital, and one for the first period after birth. The films are designed to help in conversations between health professionals and parents, and in addition to explaining, the films ask a number of questions that can be used in conversation.

Eight steps to soothe your baby
It varies how much support and comfort infants need to find peace. Sometimes it is enough that the child sees you, knows that you are there. Other times maximum support, such as sucking and grooming, is necessary to calm the crying. Try it out and see how much your child needs in different situations. Then the child will eventually learn that mum and dad help me when things are difficult. Together you will figure it out.
Tutorial videos for comfort, wind and burp!
Sometimes it can be nice to see how others do it. That’s why we’ve made some simple tutorial videos that show how you can comfort your baby, as well as help it break wind and burp.
Soothing and comforting
When the baby’s needs for comfort, food, lullabies, play and love are met, the baby feels safe. This strengthens the bond between the child and its parents. The child understands that it can rely on adults, and that it gets help when it signals. It is good to swaddle the baby if it is full and should sleep, but has some trouble calming down. Use a light blanket and place the baby on its back when it should sleep. The baby’s hands should be wrapped close to the body, the legs should be able to move freely. Swaddling is good for babies under 3-4 months. Do not swaddle a baby that can roll from back to stomach.
Breaking wind
When massaging, it is important that the baby is awake and thinks it is ok (the baby in the film unfortunately fell asleep a little during recording). If it cries or shows signs of discomfort, stop the massage and comfort the baby. The tummy massage shown here can be done 2-3 times daily in a calm and warm room. Wait about half an hour after feeding to avoid spitting up. Pour a little neutral oil in your hand and warm it up with body heat. You can start massaging early, but avoid touching the navel at the start, and begin with very gentle stroking with one hand.
Burp
There are various reasons why the baby swallows air. A lot of air in the stomach can cause pain. Ask the health visitor for advice if you are wondering whether your baby swallows too much air when feeding. In the film above you will get some suggestions on how you can help your baby burp.
